  • "I was fortunate that David guided me from day one — from the fundamentals to advanced training"

My name is Alexander Wong, and I am a member of the Canadian National Skeet Team, as well as the 2025 Canadian International Skeet National Champion. I started this sport only four years ago, in 2021, and I was incredibly fortunate to meet David Mylnikov at the very beginning of my career.

In shooting sports, not every athlete is lucky enough to find the right mentor early on. Many spend years trying to correct themselves and find the right path. I was fortunate that David guided me from day one — from the fundamentals to advanced training — covering technical skills, mental preparation, and competition routines.

David’s coaching was patient, professional, engaging, and deeply dedicated, and his motivation and guidance built a strong foundation for my future career.

After just two years of training with David, in 2023, I qualified for the Canadian Development High Performance Team. In 2024, I broke the Canadian overseas record in skeet qualification with a score of 123 + 54 in the final, and finished first at the USA Nationals, earning my place on the Canadian National Team.

David deserves a great deal of credit for helping me reach these milestones. I want to sincerely say thank you, David, for everything you’ve done to help me become the athlete I am today.

  • “he is knowledgeable, patient, and really helps you build confidence step by step"

I’ve been taking lessons from David and it’s been a great experience. The instructor has a fantastic way of making each session fun and engaging — lots of laughs, which actually makes it easier to learn and remember the techniques.
After taking lessons from him I realize it’s more mental and technical game and he is knowledgeable, patient, and really helps you build confidence step by step. Highly recommend for anyone looking to improve their shooting skills in a supportive and cheerful environment!

  • “after one session with david, i saw an immediate improvement"

At first, I was hesitant to take lessons, but after one session with David, I saw an immediate improvement in my performance. Every lesson after that brought even more noticeable improvement. His teaching style is something special, it’s the right mix of technical insight, mental game coaching, and just the right amount of humor to keep things enjoyable. Highly recommend.

  • “Every time I walk away with a smile and a head full of new knowledge"

David Mylnikov at Shooting Success School is the best coach around for clay shooting, and more specifically Skeet. He is also extremely funny and personable, I have had multiple lessons, every time I walk away with a smile and a head full of new knowledge. David completely changed my stance, mount and mental process for Olympic Skeet. He is great at adapting the lesson to suit your skill set and what you are looking to achieve. Don’t hesitate to try a lesson with David, you will not regret it!

  • "He clearly explained techniques and gave me insightful feedback that really helped me"

I recently took shooting lessons to improve my skills in skeet shooting, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. David was fantastic—he clearly explained techniques and gave insightful feedback that really helped me understand how to adjust my form. With his guidance, I noticed a significant improvement in my ability to hit targets. I highly recommend these lessons to anyone looking to enhance their shooting skills, whether you’re a beginner or just trying to fine-tune your technique!

  • “I feel my game has definitely improved, by at least 16 clays"

David is a great and friendly teacher who definitely knows his game! I am a somewhat experienced skeet shooter but was kinda stuck in my game even after my first legit competition.

After taking a lesson with David I feel my game has definitely improved, by at least 16 clays going from a 156/200 to a 172/200. More work to do be done, but I am more than happy with David's help and will be going back for more!

  • "Please take my advice, put your money where it will have the most impact on your ability, and put more "X" scores on the card"

Like so many others, I fell into the trap that a more expensive/prettier gun equates to better scores.
    WRONG.
I finally realized (too late) that the investment would be better spent on a professional shooting coach.
Please take my advice, put your money where it will have the most impact on your ability, and put more "X" scores on the card.
    David is the best!

  • "He has a clear, structured approach and an ability to explain techniques in a way that truly makes a difference"

I’ve been training with David for about a year now, practicing roughly every couple of weeks at ranges in Oshawa, Uxbridge, and Hamilton. When I first started, my competition scores were not particularly strong, but over the course of this year, I’ve seen a dramatic improvement.
I first noticed David while he was coaching other shooters at the Hamilton club. I approached him and asked if he could train me. Initially, I was slightly skeptical, mainly because he is significantly younger than I am. However, that impression quickly disappeared. David is extremely professional, polite, and has excellent manners. Most importantly, his teaching ability is outstanding.
He has a clear, structured approach and an ability to explain techniques in a way that truly makes a difference. Thanks to his guidance, my performance has improved significantly.
I would honestly recommend David to anyone looking to improve their shooting skills. A good coach makes all the difference, and he certainly does. Over time, he has become not only my instructor but also a good friend. We stay in regular contact, and I always feel comfortable reaching out to him for advice or help.
If you are considering training, I highly recommend David—you won’t regret it.

  • "Being successful in this sport is not really as hard as some may think, and getting out there with David really proved that point"

Quickly came to the conclusion that I was overworking myself when tackling tougher targets. I quickly came to this conclusion the first session out with David. When by mid session I was confidently and consistently tackling targets I struggled with before. I highly recommend David, he is a great instructor from all aspects. Being successful in this sport is not really as hard as some may think, and getting out there with David really proved that point. Would highly recommend

  • "He is a pleasure to be around and helps you understand the key fundamentals of the sport in a way that you can understand"

I had the pleasure of meeting David one afternoon at my local gun club after shooting a couple of rounds with him you can tell he knows what he is doing. After talking with him In between rounds he mentioned that he does 1 on 1 lessons which I agreed to. I had my first lesson last weekend where he helped me make very impactful corrections in the way I shoot. He is a pleasure to be around and helps you understand the key fundamentals of the sport in a way that you can understand. I highly recommend taking a lesson with him if you are new to the sport or have been shooting for a while and can’t seem to shoot the perfect round you have always wanted to. After taking 1 lesson I used what he taught me and managed to shoot my first 25 and 50. He is the real deal!

  • "He’s a really funny guy with a talent for explaining how to shoot in an easy to understand way "

I used to come up with a friend who is into shooting and I’d only hit a couple targets. After a few lessons with David, I’m able to go with my friend and give him a  challenge on the range. David is a great instructor but he should also take up stand-up comedy. He’s a really funny guy with a talent for explaining how to shoot in an easy to understand way. I came with nothing and left with lots. I’m proof he can help anyone hit any target.

  • “David is a really solid guy who wants all his students to succeed"

I started with David with very little firearm-handling skills, only able to hit a few targets here and there. With David’s incredible ability to break down difficult shots (not to mention his hilarious jokes), I’m now able to hit rapport doubles with ease, building up my skills to hit true pairs more consistently. David is a really solid guy who wants all his students to succeed. He is very patient and makes you feel at ease. Anyone who wants to learn how to be versatile with a shotgun should definitely shoot David a message and see how he can help you, both physically and mentally.

  • "I had a lesson with David and was surprised by how much he could improve my game while also making me laugh"

I have been mostly Trap shooting the last few years, trying to get better by myself, and have recently gotten more into Sporting Clays. I had a lesson with David and was surprised by how much he could improve my game while also making me laugh. I can hit doubles a lot easier now. He’s given me more confidence in my shooting skills. I recommend taking lessons with David.

  • "He’s super funny and can explain things really clearly"

I’ve been shooting for a few years now, and in one lesson David was able to get me hitting true pairs more often. He’s super funny and can explain things really clearly. I was impressed with the improvement I made with him in just one lesson. I think anyone could benefit from lessons with David, he can help anyone hit whatever target comes their way.

  • "David talked me through all of it and built up my confidence in pulling the trigger and aiming for the target"

It was my first time shooting, let alone hold a gun. I have known David for a long time and been invited to go up to the range but never took the opportunity too until now. At first I didn’t know what to expect. I over thought a lot about how it would impact me emotionally and physically. David talked me through all of it and built up my confidence in pulling the trigger and aiming for the target. David taught me how to aim, where to look and how to properly hold the gun so I could do the best I can. Once I shot, I hit the target right away. I felt so many emotions, too many I felt overwhelmed and scared but a sense of relief. David was great at encouraging, supporting and giving me the reassurance on how I felt was normal. As I continued, I gained confidence in myself and learned that there’s no reason for doubt. Learning this helped me hit more targets and eventually I hit 3 in a row.. twice. Throughout this process, I gained emotional and mental strength not only in shooting but I can use them in my personal day to day life. This experience was eye opening, stress relieving and learning valuable lessons about personal growth. Thanks so much David for being an amazing coach, now I’ve checked skeet shooting off my bucket list and left with more confidence in myself! I can’t wait to be back again!!

  • “Shooting is fun, but David finds a way to make it extra fun"

I’d never held a firearm before meeting David. Over the course of the last few years, I have gained a tremendous amount of confidence in myself, even outside of shooting. It has become an integral part of my life, even though I have no intention of competing anytime soon. The therapy found on the Sporting Clays course is unmatched to anything found in some clinical setting. Shooting is fun, but David finds a way to make it extra fun. I never miss an opportunity to go out with him.

  • “He has a great sense of humour that makes our lessons very enjoyable while being instructional"

Dave is a great kid and an even better instructor. He has a great sense of humour that makes our lessons very enjoyable while being instructional. Having lessons with him became therapeutic for me. I came to him as a complete beginner with shotguns, having only experience with rifles previously, and have gained more confidence in my shooting as I can actually hit all different types of targets now. As long as it’s in the air, it doesn’t give me a scare. I would highly recommend Dave to anyone who wants to improve their shooting skills in funny, encouraging lessons.

  • “I improved a lot in my lessons with David, enough to go into competitions"

I was learning Olympic Skeet with David. He’s an advanced instructor but makes everything very easy to understand. I improved a lot in my lessons with David, enough to go into competitions.
